Pomona

The Problem

The City of Pomona leadership had multiple concerns including the impact of the pandemic on mental health of citizens, the growing divide and social unrest that followed the murder of George Floyd, the rising influence of gangs, domestic abuse, and drug addiction.

Our Work

During Jul – Sep 2020, in partnership with Compassionate Pomona, and with support from Mayor Tim Sandoval, Richard Martinez (Superintendent, Pomona Unified School District), and Tony Navarro (CEO Tricity Mental Health), we brought together community leaders from across Pomona to build their capacity to promote healing, peace, and nonviolence across Pomona. Participants included local clergy, teachers, parents, as well as social justice activists.
